Yup, listen to it, now you don’t wanna make it
I murdered the beat, you came and investigated
Took a couple blood samples, shook it up and debated
Was it a crime of passion or was it premeditated?
And then you found the pen lying next to the corpse
With a bloody memo pad of the murderer’s thoughts
And a couple strands of hair, which led you to guess
The beat must have been a struggle to cause that kind of stress
Then paused, took a breath, the scene was a mess
Like someone came out of your dreams and defeated the best
And then proceeded to eat it and reach right through the chest
Because the heart was gone and the killer had left

“Earlier today, St. Paul native Michael Lipset was indicted by federal marshals…”
“In earlier news, Michael Lipset was seen [inaudible} with his producer, Lokes…”
“Michael Lipset, accused by the FCC for allegedly murdering a beat…”
“His alias, is Murderous Cypher…”

I’m taking my pencil to the city and erasing,
Plotting a murder, like it’s Kitty Genovese
Multiple witnesses but nobody did a thing,
Cause they were frozen by the death that I bring
With my breath I left the beat naked and demeaned
The body exposed, the flesh wet from the steam
And the people took a double-take next when I returned back
And I scratched “Lipset” on the screen
It was so miserable, I wanted to keep on killing it but I had to let it go,
So, keep your eyes peeled, on the real, keep it low
I think I’ve said too much, it’s probably time that I go

I’m a killer
I gather the tools
If you all with me then get up
Y’all know me and I don’t play by the rules

To the challenge, the level head’ll balance
Anyone who come at us like they came here to lose

(I’m) Apprehended and cuffed in the back of the squad
I thought I covered my tracks so this seemed kind of odd
It was a victimless crime to kill a beat with a rhyme
And that’s the way I made it seem to everybody but God
I bit my tongue till I got back to the station
And they put me in a room with a table and a chair to be waiting
I asked them why they got me and the shorter one suggested
That I wasn’t in a position to be asking the questions
“That’s the first lesson,” he continued
Then gave me a second with his shoe into my facial tissue
“Why’d you do it? We know you didn’t have the rights,”
Called my lawyer, told him, “Bring in my producer tonight,”
That’s when Sol.Play. arrived and said he wasn’t pressing charges
“That’s what I ask of Lip cause I know he’s the hardest,”
And then we stood and took a step to the door,
I turned and said, “I didn’t kill the beat, I murdered the metaphor…phor…”
“Murdered the metaphor so you can’t say it anymore…”

“The reporting detective described the scene of the crime as devastating. He said there were a number of bystanders frozen in awe, watching as the young man dismembered the cypher. Officials from the FCC have said they will consider taking a more preventative approach toward the illegal reuse of licensed material. Regardless of the outcome, I doubt anyone will murder a beat so conclusively for quite some time.”
